The Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis, located in the Caribbean Sea, is a federal two-island country. It is the least populated and the smallest nation in terms of area in the Americas. It is a member of the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU) and the Eastern Caribbean Telecommunications (ECTEL). Thirty-nine percent of the total land of the island is used for crops cultivation. Main crops of Saint Kitts are sugar and peanuts. Coconuts and cotton are the chief crops of Nevis. Other crops being cultivated are Sweet potatoes, onions, carrots, tomatoes, cabbages and breadfruit. Main industries are sugar processing, tourism, beverages, salt, cotton, copra, clothing and footwear. |
